Such a great cover! Probably one of the best of the series yet. It's wayyy better than #28. Angel looks much better and I love the whole old movie star concept.

Cool cover. But if Angel is going to be absent from this arc, why is he on the covers? Other than that, I can't wait to get this arc

Angel is 100% not going to be absent from the arc. He is just away from the main characters.

This really is a great cover. Jenny's Angel is much better here than on her last cover. I love the purples and pinks.

This cover is so funny. I love how much Angel is enjoying himself, it's totally out of character but absolutely hilarious. [image]

January 2009 was nine months ago. :P

I'm excited! All I've seen of David Messina's stuff so far is covers (for Only Human and such) but man, he does a good job. Can't wait! :D

He did Spike's story in Angel: After the Fall #6, you read that didn't you?

Oh right. It's been a while since I've re-read AtF and I always associate "Spike's story in AtF" with "Spike: AtF". I'll have to go read again when I have free time.

But yeah, David Messina. Great artist. Great Angel artist in particular. He's my favorite Gunn so far.

(And are you ever going to fix that release date? :P I mean it's not a big deal, I know what you mean, but it's a tad confusing. It IS supposed to be January 2010 right?)

Covers and solicitation for #29, which is out in January:

[image] [image]

Written by Bill Willingham and Bill Williams, art by Brian Denham and David Messina, covers by Jenny Frison and Messina.

Where has the "hero of L.A." gone? While Team Angel Investigations try to figure out how to handle the everyday demons, danger, and evil-doing on their own, Angel's whereabouts turn out to be part of a seriously sinister conspiracy. Plus: chapter of the Eddie Hope back-up by Williams and Messina.

32 pages, $3.99.
Released in January

Another great cover from Messina. Difficult choice this month!

It seems like this is the issue that Eddie's story will begin. #28 must deal with Team Angel exclusively.

Grr... I may buy both covers, because they're both awesome! I gladly welcome Jenny to the Angelverse, and Messina continues to deliver knockout work. <3

Ugh, so tough, both great covers. Guess Messina is really liking that style of covers, and it works. I hope Angel is the main focus of this issue. Still sort of scratching my head as to why they are breaking him apart from the main group.

Angel looks to happy... me no like. I do like that he is away from the group thought, But I only see him needing to have contact with Connor and Gunn and to watch over Illyria from time to time and I can see him breaking away from the others (Groo/Kate/Gwen/Dez for if it is not the end of the world (again) why would Angel need to hung around them? I could see him staying in contact with James as he is a link to TPTB. )

Thorn - I think Angel looking happy is the whole point. He probaly isn't. Just the artist being ironic I think.

All the covers are great so far, but I think I will be going for the Messina covers. I just love his style, and he draws a great Angel:)
