I really like this cover. Very nice!  I'm loving the variant covers for this series.  Bring on the Urru cover.
I see why they didn't show it until after Issue #1 was released. So that we wouldn't know about Gunn's fate. Smart move on their part.

I like the Angel cover art. I'm pretty new to comics (I'm not counting the comics I read as a kid since, well, pretty much every kid read comics when I was a pre-teen) so haven't much to compare them to. I like the Buffy covers and am glad that they are so dissimilar just as the tone of the shows was.

Someone at SaveAngel says it looks like his face is vamped on one side and there is a sun and moon out.

Looks cool to me. The only cover I can't stand is the variant for #2... all sorts of horrible. The variant for #1 and the Harris cover for #2 are awesome.
Also looks like a scar to me.. I wonder who vamped Gunn, I just can't see it being one of the souled boys.

Given that Gunn is killing demon lords - which is sort of good - unless he is trying to take over - could mean that he was sired by an ensouled vamp. If like the WWII episode, a little bit of soul crossed over.
Or, maybe Gunn took Betta George hostage so he could find out who sired him.
But, since he sucked all the human slaves to death, I'm thinking he is leaning way over the dark side of things.

Well - Angel said he would have liked to take out the Demon Lords but WRH are blocking him.
So, it seems that Team Gunn is actually doing it. And, since he is a vamp, and the human slaves "went over" to the demon side to save their skins, Gunn may see them as worthy of being food (since in a way they are on eveil's side).
I am intrigued.

After the Fall overall seems like it is going to be good and the story is excellant but I hate the art it is to dark the likness is terrible and the front cover do not even compare to Jo Chen/Jon Foster's work. Wesley looks nothing like Alexis Denisof Gwen and Nina look like Hookers/prostitutes and why did connor refer to a bunch of runaways from LA a few demons as his family. He would never have said that on the show he doesn't even know them. I'm giving it a chance as I reall ywant to see what happened in the battle. I think it is issue 5 and it is called "first night". This is a whole issue dedicated to the night of the battle, I'm guessing we will find out who vamped Gunn as well. Anway I just glad we have an official continuation to both Buffy and Angel. We just need more Firefly either that sequel everyone is talking about of comics. (I would prefer another movie though) Oh and the Ripper TV Movie not far behind. I don't think our souled boys sired Gunn.
Unless they did it to save him from having to be basically a slave for the firm. The way it looks now...it could go anywhere and I love it!

I updated the first post with the other cover, thanks to Buffylover3. On IDW's website it says there are 2 regular covers at a 1-to-1 ratio, so the Franco Urro covers wont be harder to get now.

Does anyone know what "April 22 1979" "I'm waiting for you" refers to? It is on the blue cover with the 2 Angels behind Angel. Faint but readable writing.
